A fitting sequel to the Trickster album, created in the context of the challenges of 2020 faced by us all. For these exemplary artists, a testament to the creative possibilities available when robust composition, instrumental virtuosity, and deep musical connection occur regardless of physical isolation. jonathandimond

You might know Charlotte Greve as the leader and saxophonist of the "Lisbeth Quartett". What she does on this "Wood River" album is something completely different, however. The six songs she contributed are far away from what could be called jazz - it's just the saxophone sound occasionally kicking in that triggers memories of her older works. Otherwise, alternative rock with avantgarde traits probably is the best description. Tracks 4 (by Tommy Crane) and 6 (by Simon Jermyn) fit in nicely. Sven B. Schreiber (sbs)
